Ok...this is a tough one. But one that will hopefully teach you something as well.
The reality is, we've been in business for nearly a year. We've had a few clients, we've developed a few good training programs and a really awesome meeting facilitation process.
Here's the reality: We haven't had any significant revenue in nearly three months - yes, that's right, three months.
Cash Flow is King: In ANY business, cash flow shows exactly where your efforts are creating value in the marketplace. In our case, that's ZERO. Our products and services mean nothing to marketplace. Ouch! That hurts! But it's true in our case, and it's probably true in your case. Learn it. And learn HOW to create value for your prospects and customers.
We create our reality: We've spent long hours talking about how to get out and sell, creating systems to sell and planning to sell. But we haven't SOLD. We ARE NOT SELLING. We are creating the reality in our business. Does this sound familiar?
We have to accept responsibility for where we are and that it's our own fault for not having any sales. Period. It's not the market, it's not the economy, it's not the millions of other excuses we tell ourselves as business owners. The reality is, if you aren't out converting prospects to clients, then you are not selling. Period. Accept it. Then do something about it.
What you can learn: No matter what state your business is in, you are literally creating that reality. Accept it. Learn from it. If you aren't attracting new clients, it's all about YOU. If you aren't selling enough products and services, it's all about YOU. If you're losing clients, it's all about YOU. If your business isn't where you want it to be, or doing the amount of business you want, it's all about YOU!
Challenge: I'm challenging our partners to create five new clients in the next 60 days. That's right. Five. I'll probably get some resistance on this. I'll keep you posted. :)
What will you challenge yourself to do RIGHT NOW? Hit the comments and share with us.
Cash is king, that's very true and at the end of the day cash generation is the name of the game. But to be in a position to generate cash, you need to have mindshare before you can have marketshare. The ability to get your ideas across as a solution to someone's needs or problems is critical for any business and particularly acute for a new business service or product. People have to know about it, otherwise you may have the greatest gizmo or the coolest service but if your potential customers know not of it then it will lie in waste. More marketing, less product development would be my consultancy advice.
